Agriculture Development Of Pakistan Essay

Download Agriculture Development of Pakistan EssayThe role of agriculture in economic development is very important. Agriculture’s primary role is to provide sufficient low priced food and manpower to the expanding industrial economy, which is dynamic in economic development.
The extra-ordinary high rate of population growth has increased food demand and it is our agriculture sector which is mainly meeting this demand. A few-year back we were importing even wheat for our domestic demand and a considerable amount of precious foreign exchange was being spent for this purpose. But development of agricultural sector has resulted in achieving an overall equilibrium between supply and demand. It is a source of food for the people and produces a variety of food products e.g. rice, wheat, pulses, sugar-cane, fruit, vegetables, meat, eggs, milk and other dairy products.
According to Economic Survey of Pakistan, about 71% population is in agricultural sector. 84% of total rural population is directly or indirectly employed in agricultural sector. 52% of total population is earning its livelihood from agricultural sector.
Agriculture can also improve the balance of payments by saving sports. Many developing countries like Pakistan import large quantities of agricultural products. With improved methods of production, processing and marketing, a large part of these supplies can be produced economically at home. The foreign exchange earned through exporting agricultural products can help us correcting the balance of payment position.
