Every single internet marketer is aware of the fact that affiliate commissions are one of the best ways to earn passive income.
There are literally hundreds of companies that offer affiliate programs; Commission Junction, Shareasale, and Clickbank are three of the most popular companies that offer affiliate programs. However, there is one company that trumps all three of these companies…
AMAZON!
Amazon has one of the best affiliate programs on the internet, and allows you to be an affiliate for MILLIONS of products! To top it off, Amazon is very trusted by people that are surfing the internet; trust is of absolute importance when referring one of your readers to a product or service on the internet. In order to feel comfortable buying something through an affiliate link, the reader must trust you and the company that they are buying from.
Since Amazon has spent years gaining people’s trust, half of the battle is already won!
If it doesn’t already sound too good to be true, it is about to…
Adding an Amazon affiliate link to your article or blog post is EXTEMELY EASY!
Just follow these 5 steps…
*In order to follow these 5 steps and effectively create some Amazon affiliate links you must be accepted into their affiliate program, and be logged into your account*
1.  Go To The Product Or Search Page That You Want To Create An Affiliate Link For
The beauty of creating Amazon affiliate links is that they can direct people to specific product or search pages. There are benefits to each; however, I tend to direct people to search pages through my affiliate links because I will not have to worry about specific products being discontinued!
*You can direct people to also direct people to Amazon categories through your affiliate links if you don’t want to worry about product pages being non-existent in the future*
Basically, you should get to the EXACT page that you want to direct people to when they click on your Amazon link!
2. Click On The “Link To This Page” Button On The Amazon Associates Toolbar (At The Top Of The Page)
Assuming that you are signed in to your Amazon account, there should be a button on the toolbar that looks like this:
This toolbar is one of the most important aspects of creating Amazon affiliate links; it makes the job A LOT easier!
Simply click the “Link To This Page” button on the Amazon Associates toolbar!
3. Select Your Tracking ID (If You Have More Than One)
One of the best things about Amazon’s affiliate program is that it allows you to have multiple tracking ID’s; these are useful because they allow you to see which specific affiliate links are getting the most product sales and clicks!
For instance, I can create an affiliate link on one website that is coded with a “website 1” tracking ID, and a link on another website that is coded with a tracking ID entitled “website 2”. These separate tracking ID’s will allow me to see which specific links are receiving clicks and producing affiliate commissions!
You should be looking for a dropdown menu that looks like the rightmost one from below:
(Sorry, I had to black out my info!)
Select the tracking ID that you want to use from the dropdown menu (if you have created more than 1), and you are one step closer to building an Amazon affiliate link!
4. Copy The Affiliate URL
I promise that this step will become easier as you create more affiliate links; however, it may take you a minute or two to spot affiliate URL if you are a first-timer!
I should also let you know that this is the most important step in the process because the URL will make or break your Amazon affiliate link! Incorrectly copying the URL can result in a broken link or a loss of affiliate commissions!
Click on the “Text Only” tab, and copy down the first URL that you see (it is in between two quotation marks).
The highlighted text is the Amazon affiliate URL:
(Once again, Sorry for having to black out my info!)
I would recommend pasting this URL into notepad or Microsoft word because you will need it during the next step, and there is one more piece of text to copy/paste!
*A great way to ensure that you have copied down the affiliate URL correctly is to paste it into your browser’s address bar and see where it leads you. If it leads you to the page that you created the link for and has your tracking ID in the URL, you should be good to go. Remember, your Amazon affiliate commissions depend on the accuracy of the URL, so you should really double-check it*
5. Create A Text/Image Hyperlink Using The Affiliate URL That You Copied
Amazon has plenty of widgets, carousels, and “buy it now” buttons to choose from; however, I stick with my “homemade” text and image affiliate links because they convert the best (according to my testing).
Firstly, you have to decide on whether you want to create a text or image affiliate link. Once you have made up your mind, you can copy the appropriate code…
Code To Create A Text Amazon Affiliate Link
<a href=”PASTE AFFILIATE URL HERE”>INSERT CLICKABLE TEXT HERE</a>
Code To Create An Amazon Affiliate Link With A Picture
<a href=”PASTE AFFILIATE URL HERE”><img src=”INSERT IMAGE URL HERE” ></a>
Choose a place in your article or blog post that you want the affiliate link or image to be displayed. Paste the appropriate code in your article/post and insert the URL and text.
Congratulations! You have successfully created an Amazon affiliate link! Now it’s time to start earning commissions from product sales!
